During this project, I have learned that realistically speaking, no one's life follows the hero's journey unless it was made so. My life did not conform with the linear expectations of the hero's journey. Even after sketching out my life, fitting the format, it did not make me feel any different about my life. It helped explain some things, however, the knowledge was not completely new. When I initially started this. I felt it would be too hard, since my life is pretty uninteresting when compared to that of a hero's. But that's alright, since it's real life. There are no Hydras (Hercules) or Hydra (Captain America) in real life, but that's okay. Others should take away from this, your life may not be explosive but it certainly has small aspects that you perhaps haven't noticed until you analysis it. That is certainly what I realized about myself. (I realized that I may be a little more twisted than expected).
Isn't that what's important? To realize that, although we might consider our lives uneventful at a glance, they are nevertheless valuable and important - because they are ours! No need for Hydras, mythical or otherwise. Life will bring it's own metaphorical Hydras anyhow. And, no, life is not linear! It's not even cyclical. It is a mish-mash of experiences.
